Cytogenetics is the study of normal and abnormal chromosomes. Sometimes called chromosome analysis or karyotyping, cytogenetics involves testing samples of tissue, blood, or bone marrow for broken, missing, rearranged, or extra chromosomes. Changes may be a sign of genetic disease or condition.
