What is Dulbecco's Phosphate Buffered Saline (DPBS)?
DPBS is a balanced salt solution used for the handling and culturing of mammalian cells. DPBS is used to to irrigate, wash, and dilute mammalian cells. Phosphate buffering maintains the pH in the physiological range.
What is the difference between HBSS and PBS?
As isotonic solutions, both PBS and HBSS maintain the flow of water from inside and outside the same cell or tissue. PBS is a buffered solution, while HBSS is a balanced salt solution. Both have different ingredients and forms. PBS is mostly found in liquid form, while HBSS can come in powder or liquid form.
