Captivate Bio's MCDB 131 was originally developed by the researchers Knedler and Ham for the low-protein and serum free growth of human microvascular endothelial cells (HMVEC). Since its development, this medium has been used for this cell type and others such as liver, smooth muscle, cardiomyocytes. It is one of a group of MCDB media which were designed to provide a defined, serum, and optimally balanced nutritional environment for various mammalian cell types.
We offer MCDB 131 cell culture media off-the-shelf without L-glutamine and with or without Phenol Red. MCDB 131 is also available as a custom made-to-order media configured to fit your project and your budget. Our custom media services can provide you with the exact formulation you need, including custom components, concentration, packaging, and QC testing.
